Half inch gap between door and frame?

Hey all,

I built a chameleon enclosure a few weeks ago by hand and I am getting my first cham today. He is a sub-adult male veiled chameleon. I had a little design flaw and cut my door a little too thin. There is a little less than a half inch gap between the door and the frame on the opening side and the top, I can fit the tip of my finger in it, but not past the first bone-joint. Should I try and make a new door or is this nothing to worry about? Think he can get out through it?

P.S. - Checked to see if I could find anything that would accurately show the gap size, and I found that a bridge on a staple was the exact size.

Thank you!

It's hard to say, probably not but you might lose all your crickets! If you want to fix it I would take a strip of something (like plastic, acrylic, etc.) and staple it to the inside of the door, just enough to close off the gap but still allow the door to open.

I had the same problem with the cage I built. I used a piece of foam weather stripping like you put on the edge of a home door for drafts. It's sticky on one side so it's easy to attach, works well at keeping feeders in! Easy fix! ;)
