Habba Mist Owners?

I am curious as to wat powers the habba mist. Every talks about getting a very expensive 100 dollar pump to power simple misting systems, while this may be a professional solution i'm trying to go the basic route and it strikes me that something small and battery powered can produce mist, so I'm wondering what type of propulsion it has

I dont use it as a mister really, just another water source for Louie along with the dripper. Its NOT a mister. I have it aiming towards a set of leaves for him to drink off.

I would guess so. I dont know though. To be honest im perfectly fine with it now, hand misting is good for your hands:D

if you can why is everyone making a fuss if they buy a better misting head for three bucks and you still save money by not buying the hundred dolllar system? It seems fine to me if you have one or two chameleons.....

The habba mist is not powerful enough to run a better misting nozzle. It does not build up enough pressure. Trust me, I have tried this and I wasted $60-$80 that I could have used towards a real misting system.

I would not consider it to be a total waste of money. I have one that I use in a cage for a male nosy be that is upstairs away from my other eight chams and it does a good job to give him some water. I also mist his cage with a spray bottle for humidity and some more opportunities to drink. It does not mist though I cannot stress that enough. It is a squirt that is for sure. But if you only have one cage and can mist with a bottle in the morning and then one other time each day, then it is a good edition to your setup.

I use a habba mist on a terrarium that i have but it really doesn't do the job for a chameleon. I would say that if you are going to mist manually a few times a week you could use it inbetween. The biggest problems that is see with it is the container is small and constantly has to be refilled, the mist head gets clogged and doesn't actually mist, it sprays. Also you can't heat the water which i try to do. If you want to water plants in a terrarium or use it as a backup it is fine, but i wouldn't count on it as a primary source of watering chams. I would reccomend drippers and occasionally putting them in the shower along with manually misting, its a lot cheaper.

cant you get a new mister head to create a finer mist?

Nope, the pump just is not capable of driving it. It's a really low pressure pump and that's exactly what you don't need for misting.

That spray head is sized to make the most efficient use of the power of that specific pump. You can pretty easily choke it off by closing the spray head down.

A misting setup is basically a closed hydraulic system with pinhole leaks (the nozzles). You need fairly high pressure to push the water through those leaks and get it to atomize into 50 micron sized droplets since it doesn't particularly want to be pushed.

Ditto that. I got a herp mist for my birthday and its all hooked up and i wondered what the hell i did without it.
