Gut loading help need decescion?

Contact Steve Sims (SSimsswiSS). He sells cricket crack. Its supposed to be the best cricket gutload recipe.

I use water crystals for hydration along with fresh veggies. I found the flukers orange cubes make the bin stink worse than it would already.

cricket crack is a good dry gutload, but i wouldnt use it as my primary feed along with water crystals and a few fruits and vegs imo. i would use that, but what i do, along with many others on here, is i blend up a butt load of fruits and veggies and freeze the blend in ice cube trays. you can honestly add as many thing as you like and have an amazing gut load product.

i do this and for my dry gut load, i use bee polen, dry kelp powder, flukers high calcium cricket feed (not much), repashy superfoods crested gecko diet, and oats and cheerios (very little) grind them up together and theres your dry gut load. its no cricket crack, but its cheap, easy, and beats shipping cost and wait.

[edit] this is just what ive recently done, the ingredients never stop, you can go above and beyond, just do some research to see suitable ingredients for gutloading. check sandrachameleon's blogs.

is (SSimsswiSS) cricket crack, the same thing as TIKI TIKi reptiles "CRicket crack"????? just curious to knowhavent tried them yet, but all i ahave heard was great comments about it:):D

I've been using a rainbow of fruits and veggies, and it seems to be working great, I've looked at the cricket crack recipe and it's amazing, but shipping to anywhere but America makes it a hassle, and running out could become a problem.

As long as you use a variety of veggies and fruits, you'll cover all your bases. Mixing it up is key.

I hate to compare gut loading a cricket to humans in any way, but as a human you don't get all your vitamins by eating only carrots, or apples. You're suppose to mix it up, to make sure you're getting enough Vit. A, Vit C, and B.

A few veggies/fruits i like to use are;

Carrots, Yams, Apples, Zucchini, Kale, Mustard greens, Collard Greens, Swiss chard, Bok Choy, green and red peppers.

those are just a few choices, If you use the search option in the forum you'll find this subject covered over a thousand times with extensive lists of different things you can gutload with.

Just remember to avoid, brocolli and spinach, from what i remember they can black calcium absorption.

things such as bee pollen, dried kelp powder, raw nuts (uncooked and unsalted) i doubt you can find in a grocery store, but rather a health and nutrition store will be a score. other than that, great veggies and fruits like dandelion, red lettuce, papaya, squash ,etc will be at your grocery store

I attempted to make some gut load out of blended apple, kale, banana, and some other vegetable and my crickets wouldn't touch it :/

Cricket Crack is the way to go

It lasts a long time and is a good staple food for the crickets I then add carrots and oranges so they crickets gain more nutrients as well as getting water.

As noted, you'll most likely find this stuff in a healthier type of store (here, we have what is called a "transition" store...they sell beef and wine but also the healthy stuff). If you have any Asian markets near you, they are great places to find stuff like that.

Yes, that's the same thing. He's a member here. You might be able to get a better price from him directly.

Try defrosting your cubes on a piece of paper towel...that worked for me.

Sandrachameleon has amazingly helpful information on what foods work and don't work as gutloads in her blog.

I think you are much better off using fresh fruits and vegetables, plus seeds, nuts, kelp powder, spirulina, etc.
