Gunky eye???

I came home to a very scary sight. Sleeper, the panther chameleon pictured, had a very strange silicon-like cap over his eye today, which is the first time this has ever occurred. He has currently been on a daily antibiotic, so I am 100% sure this was not present yesterday, as i had to administer his meds and would have noticed. I freaked out, and luckily have a sister who hs dealt with some Chameleon drama before, and she advised me to take him to my bathtub, place him on some sort of perch, and mist him with a warm mist for about 15 minutes. I did this, and it seemed to work as he gradually blinked the hardened goo out. He still has full sight, and his eye does not seem to be inflamed. What is this???? The photos below are a before an after. Thank you so much for reviewing this, any opinions on what this could be will be much appreciated :)

Did you see the post about the panther with "sleep in it's eye" below this one? Some people were suggesting maybe a vitamin a deficiency but aren't you using the repashy Cham dust daily? Plus I don't think it would only be in one eye? You might check out symptoms of that type of issue dude.

Ps post your cage size, temps, ETC from the how to ask for help form, people are gonna need to know to give Better suggestions :)

She is definitely going to the vet--but this happened on a Saturday night and the vet will be unavailable until Monday.
I think what she is looking for is people's experience with this--she thinks it may be a burn from her UVB bulb which is new. Currently, he is getting a bath to keep the waxy weird residue away and is being sprayed with Vetericyn, a product safe for reptiles and can be used for eye and mouth infections. What can cause this type of infection if you think that is what this could be? Cricket bite? Poke in the eye? :(

everything would be a guess. without seeing your cage, misting habits, nutrition habits, enviroment outside the cage etc.. it could be one of many many things.

1) cage furnishings clean? vines and branches or anything you notice him rubbing on when he sheds.

2)improper nutrition some link VitA issues to eye infections.

3)coil bulb lighting or bad uvb bulb, others have linked this to eye issues.

4)handling, if and when you handle are your hands/clothes clean. if you rub dirty into it this can be a possiblity.

5)dirty air, debris from a fan, kicked up from dirty floors, furnace air filter dirty. anything is possible.

6)dirty dripper or misting device (filthy water).

some of these are unlikely but you never know. the list can keep going but again i dont know all the specifics to start guessing.
