So i was at the local feed store and they had some really nice alfalfa based guinea pig food, but its fortified with vit A. Can i use it for a gut load, or should i steer clear like i do the fortified chicken food?

I personally prefer to use unfortified alfalfa. But you could use the guinea pig pellets as part of your gutload - just consider reducing how much supplement you provide accordingly.

I use to use it in my gutload and after looking at it, the amount of Vit A was VERY high. Clearly I can't say for sure, but I felt it was one of the items contributing to some Edema I was seeing.

I cut it out and went too straight alfalfa many months ago and I think it's made a difference.

I'd say stay away.
