Green tree monitors?

I've recently taken an interest in green tree monitors! Has anyone here kept them? Any advice or tips? I do have a couple of rather large arboreal habitats not in use at the moment that with a few mods & additions may make good monitor habitats. I haven't purchased one yet but I am seriously considering it. Any input would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Jim send a pm to chams 1, Julie. She has a large monitor but I don't remember what kind.

Are you still on board for meller questions?????

I have kept several monitor species in the past, both dwarf and large and have had a breeding pair of argus monitors for the last 3 years (see previous threads about them w/pics). My passion has always been with the tree species, though, and for the past 3 times/years of going down to Daytona, I have been speaking with Michael Cole (one of the Python Hunters) about them because he breeds them and it was my intention to pick up a pair from him the next time I was there. Well, this past Daytona (3 weeks ago) did not disappoint. Mr. Cole offered up one of his yearling GTMs in the auction and I got (what I believe is a female but still too early to tell) her for a steal. Then came up for auction a 4 week old baby (who is incredibly tame and was the hit at the Zoo Med booth at the show) offered by Mark and Kim Bell (Reptile Industries) and I, of course, had to get that one, too.:D If you go to Kingsnake, look half-way down on the home page and you can see the little dude. I also have a picture of him on facebook.

I am revamping a couple large enclosures right now for them (they are currently in temporary housing) and will be posting pics soon. They are a fantastic species and highly recommend them. There are several really good care sheets out there on them and there are a couple other people I know that keep them with the same reaction to them. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

See Jim, at least I knew where to get your info.:) Thanks Julie I knew I could count on you.
(little dude is doing great but no name yet)

I have a Green Tree Monitor myself that I got from a Reptile Show in July. Chams1 are you any good at sexing them? Mine was sold to me as a female but I just came back from the vet with her and my vet said he believes it is now a male after it pissed on him after he performed the culture on it.. Said that he saw hemipenes come out lmao. So besides if the animal exposes it for whatever reason is there another way to sex these guys?
