gravid???

I purchased my female sambava a little over a month ago as a 9-10 month old. So now she would be between 10-11 months old. She is doing great eats like a pro and seems to look good overall. My only question is if she looks like she may be gravid? She has never been bred with my male but before I took a closer look at this forum (One night I spent over 5 hours reading all threads in breeding section) I put them in sight of each other to see if my male is even interested. I had no intentions of breeding her until she was over a year old and nice & plump, but now I feel I may have caused her to produce eggs. I would love it if anyone could look at the pictures and see what you think. (as of now I feel no eggs, but she seems to be getting larger. I am ordering a digital scale off of ebay to monitor her weight and also have a laying container at the bottom)

Her calm picture is right before she was about to sleep, her "mad" picture was after I took her out of her outdoor cage. She shed About 10 days ago and since then I noticed more of the orange colors.

Another question I have is about her size. I paid less for her because the breeder said she was on the smaller side. I am wondering what you think about her size and how she looks in general. I have yet to breed chameleons and I want to make sure I do it by the "books".

Sorry this is so long, and this is my first time posting pictures so I hope it works "fingers crossed" . Thanks in advance for any advice/replies!

If she is much smaller than the male, stay in the room and watch to make sure he doesnt get too rough with her.

She is about 1/2 the size of the male. I am worried about my male though, he is very docile and didn't even seem to care that there was a female. I hope he doesn't want to stay single :)

So if she does end up laying eggs should I initiate breeding sooner than I had planned? Does she look fit to breed? She was checked by the vet when I first got her and everything including the fecal were good.

I want to thank you guys for replying, and anyone else that does. I consider myself to have a fair amount of knowledge, but not near the amount other people have on here. I think it is wonderful that this forum is as massive as it is with people that have extensive experience with chameleons and don't hesitate to share that with the less experienced like me :)

I definatly see the similarities in color pattern, she is absolutly beautiful! I know the males get all the hype but I love the way the females look, even more so when they are gravid. Even though I love that color I was hoping my female wouldn't have them yet, if she is going to lay eggs I would have much rather had them fertile. But this is my own stupidity, I should have not shown him to her before I was planning on breeding her. Am I correct with the idea that female will produce eggs if they see a male?

I had one very aggressive male ambilobe that i had to put them together in a completely empty cage cause he was knocking her off the branches. She was constantly dangling by one foot and a tail. It was much easier for them to mate on the bottom of the cage.

I guess chameleons are like people....Each and everyone has their own "style" :)

She does look gravid. I've had a couple of non-gravid females that had dark patterns like that without being gravid though. She's a beautiful girl and she does not look small at all. She looks ready for breeding. You are going to have to wait though. If she lays eggs you will have to wait for at least a month after that before she is ready again. To confirm her condition you can take her to the male's cage. Put her on your hand. Open the male's cage door. Hold her up so the male can see her. Close enough for him to see she is available to him but far enough that he can't grab her. He will probably start bobbing his head and make a move towards her. If she is gravid you will get an immediate reaction. She will open her mouth, rock side to side and her colors will get even darker. She will be one pissed off looking girl. What's her name?

For now I am calling her Shizzy (my males name is Dizzle but i normally call him dizzy) But that is not her offical name. I want to call her Stella, but no one else likes the name :( I will do the introduction thing again, thanks for the advice!
