Well...if she's never been in with a male, then she's not gravid. (If she's been in with the male and you have not watched her the whole time, then she could be gravid.) Her reactions (she gaped, went black and swayed from side to side) to him are showing that she is non-receptive.
Couple of comments...have you got a place in her cage for her to dig in case she needs to lay eggs?
Its normal to put the female in with the male, not the other way around. IMHO...its best not to put them together until you are sure they are both receptive to each other. By holding the female outside the male's cage so they can see each other you can watch the reactions. If the male recognizes that she is a receptive female and does not behave in "aggressive mode" and she remains her paler colors, slowly moves away from him, doesn't hiss, sway or gape, then you can put her into his cage...but continue watching for a bit to make sure that they are behaving well towards each other.
