Gravid Female Veiled

I have a female veiled that I don't know her age. I put a male in with her but I don't think they breed but now she has eggs. I have read that if she doesn't breed her first time that she will become egg bound. Is this true? She has slowed way down on her eating and is real restless and keeps going to the bottom of her cage. I have to containers in her cage 1 with sand and 1 with dirt. She also has 2 potted plants in her cage so I know she has choices on where to lay the eggs but after reading that I am afraid she will get egg bound. Any help will be appreciated.

If she doesn't choose a bin to lay in of the ones you've given her it can sometimes help to put her in a bin full of damp playground sand that she cannot climb out of. I sometimes put my female veilds in a large trash can which i put about 8 to 10" of sand mixed with peat moss in the bottom. covered the top of the trash can with a sheet and they would usually start digging and laying with an hour or so.

you should always keep a laying bin the cage with a female at all times. Not just when you think they need to lay.

try to give her some privacy, they sometimes won't get started on their digging/laying if they see you watching.
