Graceful female?

Found this Graceful for sale from someone who's uninformed about chameleons. He also doesn't know the age.

I realize the pic is not ideal but I'm thinking it's female. Anyone else have an opinion? Graceful cham.jpg

The males have a bump on the heels of their back feed just like the veileds.
It's hard to tell from the picture.

How about a picture of the head? The scalation, dorsal crest and patterning remind me of a Chamaeleo senegalensis. Many uninformed keepers confuse the senegalensis, gracilis and dilepis species.

It's hard to tell from that photo but I'm leaning towards it being a Senegal Chameleon because of the low casque and smooth dorsal keel. Obviously I could make a positive ID with some clear, close up photos of the head. Either way it is a female (no hemipenal bulge) and looks to be in fairly good condition. That cage could use some serious work. :(

Yes, I agree, Trace. The guy is trying to sell the Cham and the cage, but I told him I wouldn't want the cage,

He doesn't really know anything about them, but he's trying to find a good home.
Thanks!

I’ve kept some Senegals over the years and they are a nice species. Most are calm and not intimidated by people. I wouldn’t call them outgoing but certainly not shy either. Healthy appetites but don’t overeat.

Many Senegal and Graceful Chameleons come in looking like they are on deaths door but she looks okay.

Trace,
So you definitely think she's a Senegal?

I’m not 100% sure she is a Senegal but I lean towards that species for the reasons I listed in my few posts. Those photos the owner provided are simply not clear enough for a positive ID. If you can get better ones, I can say for sure either way.

If you are thinking of getting her, I think she is in good shape and there are plenty people with experience with either Senegal or Graceful chameleons that can get you on the right track. We even have a short caresheet about them in our resources section.
