So I've been building google a new cage, one that he will stay in for life, I've finished it and have just started to decorate it, I've only put a couple of plants in as I'm getting some more today, and a longer light fixture with a longer light, one that will spans the entire length of the cage, I'll get the double fixture so I can have the appropriate UVB and a 6500k for the plants, he seem happy with the extra room and is enjoying some morning basking, I hope you guys like and any opinions im all ears View attachment 67466View attachment 67467View attachment 67468

Nice set up!!!

Whats the width on that? looks awesome. I'd get rid of that substrate if theres anything on the bottom of the cage. But other than that it looks great!

if you're going with a double hood fixture take a look at Arcadia lights. Def makes your cage look allot brighter/fuller. You can also buy a T5HO double hood with a 6% UVB light / 6500k grow light from LightYourReptiles.Com

I love my lights! One of the best investments i've made for a cham.

Thanks for all your help with the lights that is so great always a bit confused with the growing lights so thank mate, the substrate is some very large bark it just helps with the drainage and keeping the humidity up, it's to big for him to swallow and he is cup fed, thanks again for your help much appreciated

Yup no problem.

Just to mention a few problems about substrate...

1. Chams can eat shards, Veileds are notorious for eating plants, etc.
2. Bacteria heaven. Mold will start to grow if you leave the bark sitting for too long.
3. Small fibers can get stuck in your chams eye and cause eye irritation.
4. It's a hassle to clean up.

If you want some tips on bumping your humidity up, i'd recommend putting up some plastic walls on your enclosure. Or use a plastic shower curtain to help keep the humidity up. This is the most effective/safest way to raise your humidity up if you feel that it's too low. Usually members from the UK do this, so i'm not sure where you're located but you may want to give this a try.

Also having a drainage system is always a must in my opinion. I see your cage is on a stand already which is great. I'd suggest you drilling some holes in the bottom of the cage/stand and putting a large bucket underneath to capture all the excess water. Also helps get rid of mold growth.

Totally understand with the substrate, I've got Perspex on both sides and the back to help keep the humidity in and in the first pic at the very bottom you can just see a maroon coloured bucket which is where the excess water drains into, thanks again mate for all your help and wisdom, always good to learn new stuff

Sweet, you're good to go then. Just making sure because you mentioned the bark helped with drainage. But i def see that bucket in the pic, so apologies for assuming haha.

But Great looking veiled and set up!

You should post more pics of your cham up here more often.

Mate I appreciate all your help, I will put up more pics of him for sure and hopefully getting a panther soon so will post up heaps, thanks again ill check out some of your pics and your lighting, sounds like you know the go,

These are the brightest colours I've seen on him when he has been in a cage, every other cage he is usually that browny green colour, so happy I hope he is enjoying it
