Save up for vacation on the Big Island of Hawai'i - they were all over the place there, popping in and out of the hotel rooms and scampering around! On a more serious note, I haven't kept them, but all the Phelsumas (day geckos) have very fragile skin, supposedly so it will tear and allow the gecko to escape if a predator grabs it - so they can also easily suffer skin tears with handling, and are best left alone.
Try saying "gold dust day gecko" five times fast.
