well me and my family moved into a new private rented house 10 weeks ago.when we came to view the house the floor in the hallway and living room was very bad.it was raised off the floor,chipped and smelt awful.well the current tennent told the letting agent the the downstairs toilet had flooded and thats what caused all the damage.well as long as it was sorted we said we would take the house.well 6 days before we moved it we were here re-decorating the house as she had left it a total mess.we repainted every wall,glossed all the doors etc.it was a mess.we were even here on xmas eve sorting it as the last thing we wanted to do was move in to that.the letting agent couldnt get anyone that close to xmas in to do it so we had no choice but to do it ourselves..well she was billed for the paint,gloss & brushes etc.so as she blamed the toilet for the floor damage a guy from the company who built the houses came out and said none of it added up.we had so much going on we just didnt think about it we just wanted it sorted.well it turned out that a pipe came lose from her dishwasher and flooded the whole living room and hallway.we were fuming as we had already waited 4 weeks to get to the point of someone coming to sort it.so then the landlord said he would claim via his home insurance.well at first he refused to pay the excess.hes now finally paid the excess and today ive had the whole floor ripped up.well the smell is awful and we have to use a floor drying machine to get rid of the moisture.thing is i have a 2 yr old whos playing on concrete and theres white powder coming off it.its all over my furniture and sofas etc.its hell living like this.just hope its sorted soon.
