SO i am going on vacation next week and my friend offered to take care of my chameleon. she lives 45 minutes away and we decided it would be better to bring my cham to her. My cham if very shy and hates being around people. i cant get him out of his cage. How do i get him to her house? I wass debating kepping him in his cage. i am not criving so i could sit near him. i would definatly keep his cage covered adn put padding on the bottom in case. Any tips?

Also another question. Lately it has been really hot out here. I turned off his heat lamp yesterday for a couple hours because it was extemely hot. I mited him like crazy because he likes it. is that ok for me to do?

Just getting ready to go on vacation myself. Dropped Lucky off with the sitter yesterday. First, get a shoe box or other appropriately sized box. Line it with a towel and add a branch, so he can hold on to something in transport. If your cham is not chomping at the bit to get out of his enclosure, try luring him out with a hornworm or other treat he likes. You might try to lure him out with a stick placed close to him. When he climbs on the stick, slowly and carefully move it out of the enclosure and into the box. From there, you can pack up all his gear, feeders, etc. and transport him to your sitter.

For your heat/misting question; What is the temp in the basking spot? What is your humidity level throughout the day? Are you manually misting, or.. ? Turning off the heat lamp is fine to cool things down. You just want to try to keep your temp/humidity constant and a few extra mistings shouldn't hurt, but you want to maintain your routine as much as possible. Chams can stress easily when changing their day to day activity.

I've attached the link for the care resources page for you. Invaluable information that has been researched, tested and proven. Good information to have for reference.
