Glass Terrarium ? and Mood Colors ?

What I personally do is just put the usual potted plants in the enclosure without covering the soil with rocks.

I monitor the female & if she starts digging or pacing the cage & she looks fat with bulges then I transfer her.

You'll know they are carrying eggs because they show their gravid coloration.

I think I read that thread & I believe Julirs was telling you to put a pot that size if there weren't any plants in it.

If you're going to put a plant in it then you have no other choice than to put soil in it in order for the plant to live ( I dunno about hydroponic gardening)

If you're gonna put a pot with a plant in it in that small a terrarium then that won't be sufficient for a cham to lay her eggs in.

What's gonna happen is the female will start digging but will not bury her eggs in that small of a pot if it has a plant resulting in her being eggbound. Either that or she's gonna end up pacing the enclosure.

IDEALLY, it needs to be twice the lenght of the female.

Thank you everyone for all the information and help, I can not tell you how much it means to get such amazing advice and information.

I will be looking into getting him a screen terrarium this week as long as I can find him one that I think works. Till then I am leaving one of the doors open for a few hours keeping a very close eye on it while it is open.

I will be changing the substrate when I get the new screen terrarium, something like astro tuff, is what I want to use.

I know im going downtown today to get some umbrella plants i think, and i have to wait for some more money in order to get a mesh enclosure, it will be this weekend.
But for now it seems , well from what people have been telling me, that she isnt gravid.. so i dont need to be worried about that.
Im teach my self my schoolingso i stay at home, ihave th wodow open ad the terrarium open everytime im near.
i mist more then 3 times a day and the temp during the day is 75-80.
humidity is always above 60.

she eats well, though i dont see her drink but her poop tells me differently.

When i get the mesh, everything will be better i assure you.
i have a 5.0 uvb and a 75 watt basking light
everything is normal til the weekend.
Right now she is by the window , literally walkin on the mesh screen getting some rays
and her colours tell me she very happy

I wouldn't put the enclosure that way.

First, one side has a basking spot, then other side is hot as well because the sun is hitting it thru the glass.

So he's getting heat from both sides & that terrarium is small.

You need to create a gradient in the enclosure. Not have it hot all around.

He's also not getting any benefit from the sun if your sunning him that way.

What is the dish for? Is it to feed him/her?

The curatins are always closed unless the sun is near and then theya re opened with the terrarium facing the window with the doors open. so it drirectly comes in.

From my experience, when the umbrella plants are small, the branches & leaves break off pretty easily. Well one day I was showering my then 2 month old cham (which is too young to be showered) when one of the branches broke off & he fell in the water plant pan. He would have probably drowned if I wasn't there watching him.

Mine was 7 months but I've read of chams laying as early as 4 months old.

I use ficus, pothos, hibiscus. I'll prob try camellia since my chams are older.

Why r glass cages so bad? I also got an exo-terra enclosure, its a rainforrest set up though and has vents and a screen, is that still not enough?
