getting prepared for my first chameleon

I have lots of questions to ask and want a complete running set up before I get a veiled chameleon. I have done tons of research and found numerous conflicting statement. As I go along I will ask. Misting questions, when I mist 2 tomes a day for 5min min? Each time. Am I to be misting directly onto him? Automatic mister, what brand has anyone used. How much manual misting is needed if I have an auto mister? And do I set it up outside of the cage and at what height? Thank u

Hello :) I'm not sure if I recommended this to you already - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html All the basics are there. I actually have a slightly lower humidity most of the time though........ For an automatic mister I can't really advise as I don't use one. Mistking or Aquazamp both have very good reputations on the forum.
I hand mist, and I spray my chams directly. I use a pressure pump mister like this - http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...=41PsULCGIeGZ0QWusoHoDQ&sqi=2&ved=0CF8Q8wIwAA
Much better than those rubbish 'trigger' ones - both for your wrists and the Chameleons comfort. A constant fine spray upsets them less, but it's still best to go slowly from the tail up and use luke warm water to hand mist.
You won't need to hand mist if you have an automatic one though, just play with the settings until it sits right with your climate and drainage :)

Not sure if you already purchased the items you needed, but as I was researching/purchasing I put it all on an Amazon wishlist. I have Amazon Prime so it was cheaper than buying it online or at any store. Also, helped me keep everything in one place. :) You can find it here: http://amzn.com/w/2IH4TMCPPQYY2

In addition to the cage and cage things, I purchased a MistKing starter set and screen corner wedge (I chose MistKing over Aquazamp for two reason - 1: read a lot of good things about Marty from MistKing and his customer service, always quick to respond and help 2: cheaper overall system). I saw that MistKing is currently having a free shipping sale (for $100 and over)! I also built a cage stand out of PVC pipe after seeing jdog1027's youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKTbUaOQ0aA).

For my cricket container I just drilled little holes into a plastic container and cut a larger rectangle in the top then covered it with aluminum mesh (more air = less smelly crickets). Got some apples, clementines, and steamed carrots with a little broccoli ready. In the future I want to get the Repashy bug burger (which is in the Amazon wishlist) and cricket crack, but for now I'm using up what I bought (Flukers dry cricket food and nature zone total bites). I ordered some silk worms and butterworms recently to vary his diet. :)

It may sound a little overwhelming at first but, after hooking up the lighting and mister to the timer. All we have to do is make sure the feeders are dusted with the right supplements and the screen is cleaned.

Hope this helps :D
