Getting discouraged?

I was just at Petsmart and they got in a veil Cham male the same time I got Ozzie at the Repticon Show and our Chameleons were the same size and now I go look at the Cham they have thinking mine will surely look healthier and I was shocked to see that the Cham they have has grown twice as big as Ozzie.

Do all Chameleons grow at different rates even when they are the same age? I hope something isn't wrong with Ozzie that is stunting him:confused:

Dont be discouraged, they all have growth spurts at different ages.

If you are concerned may be fill out the help form so every one can take a look at your husbandry and gutload.

Yes it was the same one. I am in there every other day and I asked the girl working there if they sold the one yet and she said no that they have a hard time selling Veils but she told me he grew and that is when I went and looked at him.

Ozzie eats good and is active so I am not going to stress over it.

Don't be discouraged! Chams are like anything else, some grow faster and bigger than others, but that doesn't mean that they're unhealthy. I had a panther stay really tiny until he was about 8 months old and then grew so much that now he's caught up to what he should look like. I knew he was healthy and didn't have parasites, so it was just up to him to catch up at his own pace.

So definitely don't be put off by that. Yours will grow at his own pace.

Thanks I sometimes need some reassuring to not worry myself over my babies.

Is that Ozzie in your picture? He is soo adorable:D. I have no clue with chams as i just got my first, but iv had my turtles for a long time, they are they same age and one is twice as big!, same species, habitat, sex. Just different individual growth rates;)

Some keepers feel that a more slowly grown chameleon is less likely to incur health problems like MBD. And that they tend to be hardier as adults.... Personally, I like to keep small/dwarf races. Dwarf boas, Bradypodion, highland hoehnelii, etc.... It would be great if you panther breeders mated up some miniatures. I could be persuaded to keep Panther's if you produced a "blue bar cephalolepis."

Start feeding flies and moths...They'll put some size on your cham.

You mean house flies or fruit flies? How do I catch house flies since Chameleons will only eat moving insects? Ozzie looks healthy and acts healthy so maybe you are correct. He is very time consuming but very worth it :)

I just after about a half hour trying to catch a house fly I caught one in a cup and let it go in Ozzies habitat and it took him all of 2 seconds to sight him and then the fly was no more, comical because my husband and myself we hooting and hollering when Ozzie caught him LOL!
