I needed to stock up on 100w bulbs and local store had a 99c sale. They are GE EXTRA soft white. I put one in Darwin's (beardie) basking dome yesterday and it sits right near where I stick my head when I go over to chat with him. I noticed a smell coming from it that was not there before. The box does say it has a "specially designed coating" 
that provides diffused light. I am wondering if this is harmful to him. I have not had to replace Cyrus' yet, but think I may return them. It also does not seem to provide as much heat; the coating may diminish that as well.
Anyone else run into this??
