Getting a grow light?

My schefflera's never seem to last and they seem to grow towards the uvb and lose all their lower leaves. I am wondering if a grow light would help that?

Plants will naturally "self prune" twigs and leaves that don't contribute to the plant's growth (such as those lower shaded areas). Adding more light to the lower part of the cage should help. I've often placed a single tube fluorescent fixture vertically along one side of the cage to light that lower area. I used a ReptiSun that is past its 6 month use date...the plant won't care and it is a good way to get more use out of them.
