Hi there
After many years of raising beardies and iguana's I would finally like to keep a chameleon. I work at home so I have plenty time for the steps needed to raise one and I have read a boat load of care sheets and articles pertaining to the care of chameleons. I've located all my supplies, cage, light fixture bulbs and of course a Chammy. But I have a few general questions.
My starter setup will begin with a small zoomed cage for a juvenile to acquaint myself and my Chammy with then I plan to build a bigger Hab later. I'll use a zoomed double naturalistic fixture for my lighting needs with a UVB and low watt bulb for heat. For now I'll make a drip and use a pressurized spray bottle. Hopefully I can afford an auto mister soon. Going branch picking soon so I can build some lattices and places to hang out. Oh and I've got a perfect spot for the cage that gets plenty of airflow and up pretty high so it feels safe. I even have a large holding pen for crickets. I think I'm good go but I still need a plant.
I have a philodendron scandens that would be perfect for it. It's very long and will allow good hangers for dew to collect but I've been reading mixed reviews on using it. I do know that the scandens isn't on FLchams list but I've also been reading posts of people using it with no ill effects. So is there any way I can get a definite clarification?
Also when it comes to feeding I like to provide a large variety of insects for my guys and sometimes order them. I'm not wooried about that part but do they eat stuff like mealy worms and such and if so what is the correct method for feeding them.
I've been reading a lot but if there's anything else I should know that's not commonly posted please let me in.
