Gathering eggs

Ok so we have just picked up a mated gravid F. Lateralis and i have been searching and searching for information on the best way to gather eggs with no luck.

We received the enclosure with the female and the previous owner had a large 2 gallon bucket with good sand, that is moistened down to the point you could build a sand castle but not sopping.


The guy we got them from said the females will dig down to the bottom of that bucket and drop the eggs there and fill it all the way back up. So is that bucket to large? It has a nice stick that goes all the way up the enclosure so she has easy access to it.

Sounds about right to me.

Make sure you are prepared for the eggs (need hatchrite / perlite / or some other substrate to use for them)

Cool glad set up is right. What is the best method for sifting through the sand and gathering the eggs? Do we use our finger, a cup to dig out the sand, a screen sifter? And or should we wear latex gloves?

I usually use a plastic spoon once I get close to where they are and then extract them as carefully as possible.
No need to wear gloves.

Do you know what temps to keep the eggs at? Unfortunately I don't know anything about F. Lateralis so I don't know much about their eggs.

66 or 67 to 70 degrees f. the whole time.
