Gary just keeps looking better by the minute (not really sure if he is a "Gary" yet though)!

And Mike wanted his picture taken with his Christmas Pig!

Is Gary getting a bump by his vent? The poo pic suggests that he may have a bulge going on!

Very nice!

Very nice Juli! How many grams is he/she? It's hard to judge size from a picture....If you tell me how many grams it is I can tell you what sex I think it is. Female Cresteds have bulges too. And some males are slow in developing them. I love the color under the chin area.

I will try and weigh him tomorrow. All of a sudden he seems to be growing like crazy!

Your gecko looks great and so does Mike. Does Mike not tear up his toys? My dog Red shreds them in a matter of minutes.

He ususally rips off a corner and takes all of the "puffs" out of the toys. This one is made pretty well-but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

You know what they say - when in doubt, look for pores! (Well... I don't think anyone says that but it's true! lol). Flip him over and look to see if he has pores yet. If I remember correctly, I think you can tell as early as 8 weeks with a super magnifying glass, and 4 months if you've got great vision :p

Very cute crestie!

I love my loupe, but sometimes they don't develop until they are up to 3-5 months of age. I had a gecko that I was so sure was female.. at 4 months of age, I checked "her" for pores because it looked like he had a bump going on... sure enough, male!

Gary is looking good, dumb question but are all geckos nocturnal? That would be the negative for me, I like to watch my animals.

Tell Mike he and the pig are great together.:)

I don't own a loupe, so I go by what I can see and that definately is when they're older lol. But I've heard some people say they can sex their cresties that early, so I'm just putting that out there. I've gotten loads of hatchling cresties over the last few months and haven't gotten a single male yet! lol So I have to admit that I haven't had to look for pores in the longest time.

No, they aren't ALL nocturnal. I hold my cresteds during the day sometimes, they fall back asleep very quickly. Sometimes I wait for them to wake up on their own to move around and fall back asleep. :)

Oh you lucky person. I haven't even tried louping my babies yet. Loupes aren't expensive! :)

My Cresties......

My Cresties wake up about 6:00 or 7:00 pm and get a drink of water. Females often become active then because they get some quiet time to eat and drink in peace before the male in their cage (I keep them in 1.3 groups) starts his nightly pursuit of them.

I've got a loupe but have discovered that many Cresties can have tiny dark pigment spots in the middle of the scales that look like pores. If I can see actual indenting which happens with age, then I declare it a male. If not I wait. Even with a loupe it can be very tricky. I love them though :p

That's exactly what they are, preanal pores, males get them.. but on rare occasion females will get pseudo-pores. :p
