Gaping mouth...........

My baby vieled is openeing his mouth and just sits there with it open. Does it have anything to do with me giving him a hornworm (Very small one) yesterday. Or is he regulating his heat?

I edited my OTHER quotes because I didnt care to deal with the response you would give. There is a Search Button. It comes in quite handy....

Most likely your basking spot is too hot. Its warming up outside so the inside housing temp is going to warm up as well as most people havent kicked on their air yet. Just move the bulb up, mist more, or switch to a lower wattage.

If you hear hissing noise, like a wheezing, Search for URI as it could be something more serious.

They do gape to cool down, despite remaining under the basking light (and they are supposed to be smart, Go figure). Its normal but watch the temperature.
