Gaping mouth

This morning jaw breaker looked great and ate really well now he's gaping his mouth! Is this a respatory problem

Usually when they hold their mouth open it means they are too hot. It is how the keep their body temperature regular.

I'm new to this also. My new Cham was doing this daily. I raised the basking bulb an inch or two and he stopped immediately :)

Just keep an eye on him. If he does it while he is not basking then you might have something to be concerned about, unless your whole cage itself is too hot. Watch for him to hold his nose straight up in the air and also extra stringy saliva when he opens his mouth. A kind of popping noise or wheezing when he breathes also is something to look for.

Thanks Carol he is doin it at the bottom of his cage as well and there is no way he's to hot at the bottom I've been watching and he has no stringy saliva and no popping noises I have batril do you think I should start treatment or wait a day and see what he does?

Well, I am certainly not a vet and would not want to tell you to not do something and have it get worse, but then you hate to give him medicine if he does not need it either. It is stressful on them to give them meds also unless you inject a feeder. It could be in the early stages where he is not presenting saliva or the breathing noises. It is odd he is doing it at the bottom of the cage where it is cool. When he sleeps at night, watch and see if he points his nose up in the air. I would pm Ferritinmyshoes. She is a vet and member on here and maybe she will give you the right answer as far as the baytril. Good luck and I hope you figure out what is going on.
