fuzzy egg:(

today i went and checked on my eggs and one of them went bad im assuming...it had a bunch of fuzz on it...im sure thats not good..it was like it went bad and fungus grew...so i took it out and disposed of it...is there something wrong??

I've never heard of a fuzzy egg. I agree with Camimom about it might not being fertile. If was probably never living in the first place...

hmmm...about one or two weeks...but it only happened to on egg...two weeks...

Ok. then im going with it was infertile.
and there can be, and often are, infertile eggs laid with fertile ones.
it just means that egg was created after the fertilization process toook place.
no worries,
just make sure your substrate that you have the eggs in isnt too wet.
and it can take a few weeks to mold up and wither.

infertile eggs happen, it's best to remove the egg and as much of the surrounding substrate w/o disturbing the other eggs. i've been told that good eggs actually have a protectant in them that prevents mold from growing on healthy eggs, i've also been told not to throw out an egg unless it discolored. I've actually had an egg sprout white fuzz 4 months in it never discolored, and hatched 2.5 months later!

i recently started to incubate some panther eggs and i have had a few go all fuzzy like white mold. i beleive either they were not fertile or too much water. however eggs right beside them seem unaffected so i lean towards infertile. i did take the fuzzy eggs and a damp soft brush and carfully removed them ( keeping them the same way i took them out ) and cleaned them off and a few have seemed to not regrow the fuzz. i did move them to a new container as well.

yeah i think ill go with not fertile...i think if it was too wet all the eggs should have turned that way??or i could be wrong...

I would just put it in a separate container and see what happens. Some pretty bad looking eggs have hatched perfect babies.

Whats up bigdawg. Too bad you trashed the fuzzy one .. I did that my first time to, but heard they can still turn out to be healthy babies just like the other forum member said. Good luck with the rest of your batch!
