If you wanted a substrate, a sand/cocofibre mix would probably work. but safest is no substrate at all.

pssh Avid Member Nov 29, 2009 #7 If it's is a bit too wet, mold can spread. If there's mold on it, it's not going to hatch. Best to just junk it.
