This is pretty much my only experience with a forum and it saddens me to see how it’s slowed down. While I’ve always enjoyed helping new keepers and wherever else I can, it’s been even more to get to know others, their chameleons and their journeys together. Not very long ago I realized I knew almost all of ‘the regulars’ chameleons by sight as well as my own. Keeping my chameleons has been a rather lonely endeavor. None of my family, friends or coworkers keep any reptiles, much less chameleons. Only here does anyone understand the allure of the curly whirly tails or those bright pajama colors and sweet dreaming faces. Who else can we discuss feeder insects and roach colonies with? What about all of those poo pics? Where else does anyone understand when we admire a fallen branch or why we keep starting more pothos plants from clippings when we already have so many? It’s great to learn from videos or written lessons, but you don’t get any feedback and can’t get your questions answered.
I try to still show up here every day, often a few times a day so people know we’re still here and active. Perhaps this is just a cycle of slowness, or perhaps just a hint of things to come. Only time will tell.
