Furnishing Suggestions

I need help furnishing my new cage. It is a custom built one w/ a 3' x 2' base and is 4' high. Right now there is only a small Schefflera and a small Ficus. I also however, have a small English Ivy and a small Hibiscus that i am raising to eventually be put in there. Anyway, i'd just like your suggestions on what i ought to put in there.

It could definitely use some vines. We went to Michael's (arts and crafts store) and bought a fake one for maybe $4 and strung it from the back right corner to the front left corner. Our cham basks on it all the time and spends most of his time on that vine actually. If you go to a pet store, you can get bendable vines/branches that you can bend in all different directions and make little "highways" for your cham to explore around his/her cage. They come in different lengths and widths as well. I'm pretty sure places sell them in a spool too.

Not a bad idea. You could probably use the bamboo to help train your ivy to climb upwards and use that as well.

Buy all different kinds of vines and try to hang a well growing potho thats really big. You can buy stuff from stores. Try a ficus tree also??:D
Ya use the bamboo to make like highways back and forth til the top of the pots

or you can get good sized oak tree branch, drill a hole on both side and tie it to your cage with heavy duty fishing line

it will create a chameleon highway and will excersise your cham :)

check out some of the posts under the 'enclosures and supplies' forum as there is lots of pics of peoples cages and you are sure to get some really good ideas.

heres a pic of something i just whipped up w/ some freshly cut bamboo. But yea, i need to get a big pothos or Ivy w/ vines draping over the edge to hang.

yea, i made sure they were wedged in good and firm, i forgot to add that i had a piece of a fake orchid plant poking out of my ficus.

LOL, hehe but yea, any suggestions, i was thinking maybe i should get some fake vines and wrap the bamboo.

that's exactly what i was going to suggest, wrapping the bamboo with another smaller vine. i think that the bamboo itself my be too slick for the chameleon to grip. the extra vine will give it a better gripping surface on the bamboo..
hopefully help prevent some falls,,, :)

nice looking cage, good call on the bamboo. did you use a wire screen or nylon? As far as artificial plants or vines, meh. I once had a huge fake fig that I had a cham in, and I thought would I be happy in a fake plastic environment? Hibiscus are good and have a six foot fig for him (pic of cage in my gallery) lots of room to roam. lites on timers and an auto mister make for ease of operation.

Aloha,
Where do you live? We use avocado branches and grapevines along with Pothos and some artificial vines. we thought about bamboo also but thought that it might be too slippery, let me know how it works.
