Fun Thread-Chameleon Personalities

....at least I hope this will be fun. :)

I would love for anyone to chime in & share any quirky or fun traits, plus differences in personalities of their chams. I know so many on here have MULTIPLE chams, so I'm hoping for some good stories.

Now that I have 3 babies, I'm already seeing the differences in their personalities at such a young age.

Eg; #1 (the oldest) is sort of Mr. Cool. Nothing seems to bother him, seems to know he was the first hatched.
Doesn't mind being sprayed at all. Every night, he goes to the same stick in his enclosure, stretches his body completely straight, and goes to sleep. Looks just like a stick. His been doing this since he was born.

#2- we think this one may have been born blind. We're actually trying to force feed because it's not growing at all. After I spray the cage, he/she hangs upside down, presumably so the water runs into his mouth.

#3- The youngest (at 3 wks) is totally different from #1. HATES being sprayed! loves to hide under leaves and sleeps on a different branch and position every night.

Please share your fun stories. :D

Yoda is my veiled and he is so grumpy and looks like an old dinosaur. He will eat greens out of my hand if I hold them through a hole in his cage from the outside . He does enjoy showers now, but he didn't when he was younger. He won't go to bed unless it's completely dark

Chewie is my 7 month old Panther and he is super curious about everything , wont let me hold him but will eat from my hands. Knows when it's time for me to feed him and he will just go sit by his food cup and stare at me. He's always curled up and sleeping already when I turn the lights out at night

I'm going to get one of CraigWyatt's Picasso babies on Tuesday and I can not wait to see how different his personality will be!

Kay, first of all....great stories. Your panther sounds a lot like my dog. Lol! Waiting by the food cup....:-D

2nd, how exciting about the new baby! I saw Craig's post about them. Will it also receive a Star Wars name? Han Solo, perhaps? ;-). Or maybe Ewok?

The chameleons I used to keep were ones I caught in the wild in Libya. They were very hostile initially but quieted down fairly quickly. They lived in the bushes in my front yard and as any good kid would do I would tear the crap out of my arms catching them. The rumors among the Americans at the time was if they were put on red they would explode because they can't turn that color. So of course I put each one on a red cloth. None of them exploded. I never kept them long enough to see a personality. There was always a new one in those sticker bushes.

Nigel is my 8 month old, that believe he's a child, and always wants to be held. I cannot open his cage without him running up to my arm to come out. Some people can't handle their chameleons...I can't get him to leave me alone! He's happy as can be just clinging to my arm or on top of my head. When his mister goes off, he BOOKS it to the nozzle and sits underneath it. He's made enemies with the neighborhood Bulldog and loves Chin Rubs :)

Vladislav is my 6 month old panther chameleon. He is an easygoing guy, and begs to come out of his cage by pacing at the door. He refuses to stay on his free range tree, and contorts himself into very strange shapes trying to get by the baffles I set up. He almost always succeeds in escaping. He is fascinated by my crocodile skink's vivarium, and whenever he escapes his tree that's usually where he heads. I'm not sure he even known there is something living in there (she is crepuscular, and is active when he's sleeping) but he is always trying to get into the viv.

Vladislav has a designated "sleeping branch" and tells me it's time to turn off his lights by going there and hunkering down as if to sleep, then staring at me. He is a grumpy grumpy pants first thing in the morning, but a few hours later he's back to his happy self.

When he gets offered his favourite foods (waxworms!), he rushes over as fast as he can and fires up really bright. Its pretty adorable.

He hates my roommate. A lot.

Silly Spike

My Spike is 8 mos old. When I hand mist him, he sits right in front of the nozzle, closes his eyes, and sways his head left and right like he's doing his best Stevie Wonder impression. It's quite amusing LOL!!!

This is hilarious! I"m amazed at the personalities here! LOL! Still laughing at all the fun quirks these guys have.

I especially LOVE the names!

If my hand is near my female veiled, she will run over to it and look for food. She has shot at non food items in my hand like a small solar panel. Shes not the brightest lol :)
