Fun in the Midwest

It's very important to have a tornado safety plan. #basement

A couple of tornadoes nearby, nothing too close, but the sirens have been going if for about 30 minutes. We're cozy in the crawlspace. Ferds is crabby about it, as usual.

All over and everyone's safe and sound! Tornado touched down near my parents' house, but they are fine.

We had a really nasty storm last week too where we had to go out at 2am and grab stuff of the balcony because of 80mph gusts. Coldest rain I've ever felt in my life. This one didn't seem as intense.

And yes, the frogs are adorable, thank you for noticing :D They are absolutely hilarious. I highly recommend African Dwarf Frogs for anyone who needs a little cuteness in their life. Nothing but two tiny skin bags filled with joy (that's sounds weirder than I meant it too).

At least hurricanes have a complementary cocktail. The "tornado" is just the dregs from whatever bottle you remembered to grab on the way down to your hidey hole.

Gin, FYI.

Yea, they have hurricane parties here, before, after and during the hurricane for the ones that don't evacuate. :D

For hurricane Irene, my friends in NYC all had a big hurricane party. I got three texts almost all at the same time from three different friends saying "every liquor store is out of dark rum!"

Thanks for the well wishes. Tornadoes and hurricanes are nothing to joke about unless everyone makes it through okay.

Wow, you guys in the midwest have a really weird sense of "fun".
I'm afraid to ask what you might do for excitement.
However I would concur on the gin, if you remembered the olives.

Lathis, I've seen you on here quite a bit but never noticed you were from KC! I'm about an hour away in Topeka. We didn't have any tornado watches or warnings (that I know of) but we were in flash flood warnings from like 4:00 on. Growing up here, as you know, it's no big deal. Just have to roll with the pushes! Glad to hear you and your family are safe and sound! I like your style with the beverage!!! Our plan includes my wife, Lexi (bully breed mix dog), Curry (3 Mo. old wild cat found by a coworker) and Merlin (4 mo. old Ambilobe) to the workshop in the basement. Well, that which is most important and if time allows, some good whiskey! If it comes, might as well enjoy it as best you can, right???

FF warnings all around us, too. Some flooding in the lower areas of downtown KC. I've been keeping an eye on the Missouri River levels since we live right next to a levee  So far, so good.

Glad everyone's okay.
