Full spectrum bulbs vs. house bulb

I was thinking of encorporating one of those mood enhancing bulbs that we northerners use to fight off the effect of seasonal effective disorder in my Chams cage. It's just like a regular bulb I use to heat the cage now but it is a full spectrum light. Does anyone use these? Are they safe for chameleons? Thanks guys!

I believe you are talking about a bulb that may get used to grow plants... but i also know there are uv bulbs that are used to enhance people's mood.. id suggest purchasing purpose made bulbs, as there are some issues with some bulbs, causing eye irritation. you would be surprised at the relative cheap cost of some products. Im currently waiting on a 100w mega ray uv bulb to be delivered. 1 year warranty for effective uv output, with shipping was $55.00 us. i believe he has suppliers in several different countries... and if you are in Canada, it was like 6-10 more for shipping... when it arrives, ill review...

What may affect the mood of a mammal may do nothing for a reptile. So called "full spectrum" lights won't necessarily benefit your cham if the part of the light spectrum the bulb claims to produce isn't correct. Don't bother with this. Use a bulb designed for use over basking reptiles instead. The Arcadia bulbs or the classic ReptiSun 5.0. We know those work.
