So I know there are two types of fruit fly people feed to their reptile. Question is do they go through screen cage? If even the bigger Hydei go through the screen cage, I'm gonna need some other feeder option.
I've had flies go through all of my screen cages, so I ended up having to feed in an aquarium-like tank and would brush the fruitflies back to the bottom when they climbed to the top and tried to get out. Needless to say, I finally switched them over to pinheads, which still occasionally got out, but were much easier to deal with in the house...my pup loves hunting for them.
Melanogasters get through most all screens. Hydei's will not fit though smaller screen but that screen blocks ~70% of the light.
I have a repltile 10G tank that has this screen in a slider lid. I use it for my new babies until they can eat crickets, usually 1-2 weeks. It keeps most (not all) of the Hydei flies in.
