so i have a free roaming veiled cham, for those who read my posts i got her from petco and she was really dehydrated eyes sunken in and what not, i got her to the point where she will drink off the leaves and even off my hand if i mist her but i fear i dont do it enough because i noticed tonight while she was sleeping her eyes where sunken in again, i dont know if its because she is sleeping and her eyes are closed or if shes more dehydrated, so i need some ideas what do you guys do for your free roaming chams? set up a dipper system? do they use it? and is her eyes being sunken because shes sleeping or need more water? i care a lot about my chams and im trying to do everything possible to keep them healthy so post me your ideas!

My free ranging panther doesn't like the room temperature mist water so I give him a 95 -100 degree 20 - 30 minute shower every morning with a Round- Up gallon pump sprayer from Lowes. I get up on a step ladder to spray him to get above him.

He LOVES it. Sometimes if I'm late, he will be waiting in the showering "spot" - I always shower him in the same place. He drinks, cleans his eyes, turns different ways, and enjoys it the whole time. It's a nice quality time we have together. I've found if the water is too cool, he will just walk away. And, of course, I get the stink-eye.

Do u shower him in his cage, or do u have some other place?
They do indeed like the water warmed up, I discovered that :D
It can really "jump start" a drinking shy cham ;)

P.S it can be a bit of a drainage issue though

I shower him in his free range. Drainage is not a problem! I recently had a plumber come in and drill a two inch hole out through my house to the yard and put in PVC piping and drainage out from the bottom of my free range. I use a 3'x6' Tray Hugger as the base of my FR and it works great!

I have a round up sprayer as well. How do you heat your water up? I dont think its to good to microwave plastic lol.

Edit: I only use gallons of spring water I get from walmart. Would tap water not hurt for a shower?

I use tap water for everything. I have really good tap water here. I guess it depends on your area. I've run tap water through my mistking for over a year and a half with no issues. When I took Phineas to the vet for a checkup, he said not even to add Reptisafe or anything like that to the water. He's a good vet, too. He used to breed chams.

I live a pretty descent way from our city. Its not a city city but its still a city and I wouldnt trust its water. My shower water taste pretty normal when I brush my teeth so I would imagine its safe lol. I gave him a nice long hot shower instead of a room temp shower this morning with tap water. I tested our tap water and it showed it was pretty clean. But im sticken to spring water for the rest of the water. ;)
