This is how far ive got so far ....any advice or ideas are much appreciated..havent come up with proper drainage system yet, but have gutter at the back leeding into green tray to catch sprayed water caught by the plastic lining..Also you will notice there is no uvb yet, im now in the process of hanging it but need to get longer tube within the next few days...

Just looking at your plant selection, is that a rubber plant in the back right? If so you may not want to have it in there, if a leaf gets broken it has a toxic burning sap.

Aside from the plant selection, I would advise not having plants reach so low to the ground. It makes it easier to escape the free range and wander about. We have ours on a shelf 4 feet off the ground. While some may have taller trees directly on the ground, using a taller pot may prevent them from reaching the floor.

Just something to think about.

dang I gotta get going on Lenny's free range 2.0..... but that doesnt't look too bad... i just see drainage as a big issue....... Melleri need a lot of water... so... misting for a few minutes might not be enough.

That is so cool! I didn't think you would be able to do something like this. And they don't wander off?

Mine actually managed to escape his cage the other day, and I found out only because my dog was looking at something on the floor (which I figured might be a mealworm beetle or something) until I saw her flinch, which let me know she was looking at something that moved and that she was a little weary of. And then I stood up and saw his tail disapear under a table lol. Luckily he was only out for a few minutes, but I'd hate to have him wander the house and get into trouble.

They do wonder off at times. If you have everything they need most of the time they stay put. I have two melleri in one range and at times one will wonder away. My gf tells me that Lenny will leave and come back.

We don't have any pets other than chams so it's no big deal. If you have cats or dogs I do not think free range is wise. You nevvvverrrrr know what can happen.

I can vouch for the wondering off...... One of my melleri just went for a walkabout this afternoon. Not an unusual occurence....it's just that it took me 1.5 hours to find her!! (and their free range does not have any plants that are low to the ground. Just FYI - where there is a will, there is a way....and they will find a way.)
