If you don't even have a chameleon yet, you are jumping the gun to be considering free ranging. Free ranging takes understanding all it little nuances of your cham. If you are not extremely familiar with chameleons then you might never see the signs that the cham is in distress. You could have a chameleon die and you would never know why. Even people who are very pro free ranging would not recommend it for your first cham as soon as you get it. jmo Talk to some of the people who do free range about all the possible issues from the cham wandering into trouble, to getting dehydrated, not getting adequate uvb or heat 7 the list goes on. A lot to consider.
