I don't have a cham but I'm doing my research before I get one I was wondering if I do free range where exactly does the chameleon poop >.<
and would trees like hibiscus or ficus be good?
Well, not much choice with that unfortunately. However, chams do like to poop in one place most of the time so it's as easy as figuring out where that is and putting down newspaper and then just picking it up.
And yep, those plants will work well The hibiscus might not flower again inside, they require a lot of light.
Both those trees would be good choices and cham safe. They pretty much poop where they wanna poop! They just hang their butt over a branch or vine and let it drop! The nice thing is their poop and pee(urate) is all in one and is solid. Very easy to clean up and they only go once a day or every couple of days!
If you don't even have a chameleon yet, you are jumping the gun to be considering free ranging. Free ranging takes understanding all it little nuances of your cham. If you are not extremely familiar with chameleons then you might never see the signs that the cham is in distress. You could have a chameleon die and you would never know why. Even people who are very pro free ranging would not recommend it for your first cham as soon as you get it. jmo Talk to some of the people who do free range about all the possible issues from the cham wandering into trouble, to getting dehydrated, not getting adequate uvb or heat 7 the list goes on. A lot to consider.
