For anyone with a DIY enclosure

I want to build a larger enclosure for my chami's. Is it ok to put a preservative on the wood? polyurathane? I am thinking of 2X2X48. Actually, I am thinking of a 2X48X48 with a sliding wall making it into 4 cages with a plastic pan bottom if I can find one tht large.

Any issues?

I build all of my own enclosures with wood. It's recomended to seal the wood with something. I personally use Urathane spar varnish. It's similar to poly urithan, but intended for out door use.

Just remember to use an outdoor sealant so it can stand up to UV and water.

Also, you need to let your enclusre sit for at least 4+ days for the fumes to dissapate. You don't want a cham in that stuff and it stays around for a long time.

So you would be dividing up a 2x2x4 cage in 4ths? Making it 4-2x2x1 cages. What would you be putting in their? babies?

No, I would be slicing it in half, making each side a 24X24X48 separated by a sliding wall which can be removed if I need a 24 X 48 X 48 enclosure for something. The 24 is the depth. (I am terrible expressing measurements.

I have 4 chams and if 1 of these works then I would make 2 and house my 4 chams.
