My Panther Chams about 3.5 months old and so far he's only been fed crickets.. I was told meal worms are also good. but in a couple weeks.. he's still shedding but he's almost done. I've looked up blogs and people have humongous list because chameleons eat a very diverse set of food & could be overwhelming to look at such a large list.. but when they are growing up I want to make sure that my panther has the nutrients he needs & get a good diverse set of bugs...

Is there a certain set of bugs that are good for the first 5-7 months that aren't just crickets?

I feed him crickets & supplements I use multivitamins & calcium no d3 my crickets eat carrots & lettuce..

Also advice on cricket feed would be awesome too.. I'm still not as educated as I'd like to be on the bugs

Repti worms, meal worms, silk worms, horn worms, baby manti, butter worms, its a good idea to be diverse but watch what you feed them, like butter worms are very fattening and alot of meal worms could cause a problem due to the outer shell on them. I order all mine from lindasgonebuggie.com. Also how are you dusting with the multivitamin? It should be dusted with twice a month.

Yes in another thread I was told twice a month.. I dust about 3-4 of them and he ate them.. but I was told to give him calcium no d3 every day but I also try to give him plain crickets.. almost like 50/50..

Also can I use calcium & multivitamins same day? or do they have to be seperate?
i've been doing either calcium or multivitamins...but always with plain crickets every day..

So I'll definitely try some worms next batch of food I buy.. sometimes the worms looks humongous for him but still munches down just hope he doesn't choke or anything..

I am going to get mealworms. or should I try a different worm first? because of the shell thing you spoke about.

Honestly I would dust every cricket every day with Cal no D3, Also Feed the little guy around 10-15 crix, he we need it to grow ! Also, if I had to go with one bug it would be a reptiworm, or silk worm. You can gutload both of them. Reptiworms will last longer , but sometimes after chameleons eat a reptiworms they get spoiled, so try to do a mix of things, I offer meal worms as a treat as something different, or wax worms. Wax worms are little balls of fat , so its like eating a bug mac;):D I crack myself up lol

calcium is veryy important for chameleon. i was going to say just stick with doing it most days but im using calcium plus every other day right now for my 5 month old, have very little left than ill switch to 4/5 times with repashy low d.

also I'd definitely work on your gut loading, sandra chameleon is like a guru to me for recipes. a wet and dry would be good ideas as well. (for my wet ive used things like carrot, apple, dandelion, squash, okra, kale, peppers etc) dry ive used things lie grains and some nutsm dried fruits, alfalfa, brewers yeast spurilina etc) I feel ideally a lot of the nutrient are going to come from what you offer your feeders. some things in moderation do research, otherwise you can buy commercial gutload lie cricket crack.

you have better choices than getting meal worms. you have those already mentioned. btw reptiworms.phoenix worms are great for calcium. some other simple feeders especially somce your guy is sall can be fruit flies, blue bottle flies, bean beetles and isopods. and if worms are big ight be better off getting eggs

not sure how much your feeding i seen "dusted 3/4" hope your feeding you guy alot more than that. wide range of numbers but sometimes i feed between 5-15 crickets couple times a day or will switch feeders between morning and afternoon something along the lines like 12 crickets in the morning. maybe 10 fruit flies at lunch and maybe couple of something in the afternoon ideally what they eat in a span of 5 mins

Now when I say as a treat please dont think I feed my little guy more than maybe 3 a week if not couple weeks. Like I said I would go with silk or reptiworms, more so reptiworms just because you can keep them longer and easier to keep. Their are many different views on meal worms, but obviously it should not make up a large amount of a chams diet due to a raise concern in impact .
