Food in a Free Range

Ok, so I dont know why I didnt think of this sooner, instead of buying 2 adult cages for 200 bucks, Im just going to free range the veiled and hoe.

So, can you guys who free range, please post pics of how you have your food cups set up? and good pics of your free ranges would be great too.

There's no wrong way to do it honestly. I had a larger plastic storage tote thing, perhaps 12" deep that I would throw food into, and then have branches criss crossing across the top. That way my cham would have to stretch out to get his food, which kept them using their tongues and not getting lazy.

I recommend looking into using the metal shelve things that they sell at Target, Walmart, or Home Depot, the ones that come with 4 bars and a few shelves and you can pick how far apart they are. These are great, because you can use two shelves at the bottom (one to hold up the plants and one to hold up any drainage bucket you have) and one at the top will hold the lights. It's easy to clean, sturdy, and my chams loved it. Plus you can pick the height of everything!

If I free ranged again I would use something like this again. Right now I have those shelves holding my shoes in my closet! lol

Well right now i have my plant in a laundry basket to collect the water.
The plant stands 4 + ft tall.

I think Im just going to attach something to my wall that the plant leans against, its a bit top heavy.

ad my lauunudry basket is my water catcher. lol.

Now I just need to buy a mistking.

I just hot glue some wire to some party cups (you might want to use blue) and hang them on a branch. I use the tall cups for crickets and bugs and the short cups for worms. I just hang them around on the branches in the FR.

i make sure to have at least one spot with a vine above a lower vine so i can clip the cup on with a clothes pin to the lower vine.

somedays if he is being particularly roamy i will just sit a cup or 2 down at the base of the tree and he will climb down the trunk and snag them. either way i just make sure to put them somewhere he will see them, although by now he knows when he sees a red cup to look in it (although i wish i could find a non textured black or blue cup..i havent yet. it seems like they got recently redesigned wherever i go)

good luck. i agree with olimpia btw. those wire bakers racks are a great foundation, i have 2 different sizes but i didnt incorporate the into my set up this time.
