Foggers...Opinions?...

i've actually been told the opposite by my vet. he said they need to breath it in as it helps prevent respiratory track infections.
I believe that is true(for the most part) for the montanes.....but others it might not be so good for, not really gonna hurt them, but might be to much humidity.

ok, so excited. I just got my humidifier! works awesome, puts out alot of mist. I have a tube/ hose thingy. Now im just having trouble finding a way to keep all the mist going up the tube. Tape of any sort seems to not want to stick long, and mist seeps through the bottom of the hose. How have you been securely fastening your tube?

use either a hot glue gun or an epoxy tape wont hold as the humidty will kill the adhesive but try the hot glue as u can remove it unlike the epoxy

Try silicone caulk or wax plumbing gaskets to seal the parts. Also, if you can put the fogger higher than the cage and aim the tubing and mist down, you'll have fewer leaks as the fog is heavier than air and wants to move down not up. I have used humidifiers like the older Sunbeam models for years and have never had a cham develop a respiratory infection. I don't think it would be a great idea to have the fog pour right on a cham while it is at its basking spot (aim the fog somewhere it doesn't tend to sit a lot), but generally the mist is better for them than the dry air you are trying to get rid of.

Great ideas and good work, Dinky. When I only had a few montanes I had an ultrasonic humidifier set up so the mist would go directly into the enclosures. I found cleaning the pipes to be a pain in the  Not to mention the frequency you will need to clean them to prevent bacteria from growing in the pipes. Now that I have more montane chams and tired of the pain it is to clean the pipes I just have my humidifier on a dresser with a fan underneath to distribute the mist evenly. My room stays very very humid at all times. Never going below 60% and that is when I am cleaning the humidifier and the room its self and have the door open to move things I need to clean outside or to the bathroom.

The humidifier I use is a little pricey but has a nice warranty and REALLY does the job. I would suggest this one to everyone. Its a breeze to clean and it also has tons of settings. You can control how much mist comes out, warm or cool mist function, timer, etc etc. Hands down the best I have seen out there.
