Foam Rock Background

So question to whoever may know this answer, I just got my chameleon yesterday from FL Chams he’s a 3-4 month old male veiled chameleon. On the back of my screened enclosure I have a foam rock background and he seems to be trying to kinda climb on it’s because he’s curious but I don’t think he can quite get a grip. So he just hangs out on his vine and attacks it with his tongue? Is this something I should worry about or am I just overly concerned. Another question, I have my thermometer up in the corner and if you can tell it had electrical tape kinda on the side to hold it I seen him go at that one time too.

Tape and chameleons don't mix. They seem to find a way to get stuck to it. I would get the tape out of there ASAP and remove any remaining adhesive. He is probably shooting at the background because it is shiny like a bug. As long as he isn't chewing it it should be ok.

Okay I will take it out even though he can’t get stuck to it, but alright and doing that to the background won’t harm his tongue or anything though right?

I would feed him more to distract him and he will probably stop soon.

Okay yeah I usually feed him 6-7 crickets a day and then let like 3 roam around the cage then leave the rest in a cup in the middle of the cage where I seen him go there before to get them as well. But do you think it would be okay to leave the cup with the crickets in it at night ? They can’t get out of the cup so I wouldn’t worry about them bothering the chameleon while he’s trying to sleep. We’re still working on the trust issues, he let me hand feed him once then I tried again a few times and he got scared so I just let him eat as he pleases to make sure he gets enough to make him full

In the cup over night is fine with just a couple crickets. They won't be gut loaded or supplemented by the time they eaten so don't leave too many. I have to race my little ones to the feeder every morning or they are in the way and I have to move them off to get the feeders in the cup.
