I made this bin to try to start a colony of Green Banana roaches, which are fairly fast and can fly. First hot glued some vent screen to one side.
I cut two sheets of plexiglass or whatever plastic this was, not sure it was some scraps. The first became an inside rim cut exactly to fit and hot glued in place from inside.
The second sheet was cut exactly like the first around the outside, but kept solid except for a circle where I hot glued a Zip Lock storage cup with the bottom cut out. It makes the inside have a lip around the hole. This sheet just sits on top of the first and is removable.
Now I have the option of removing the plexi panel completely or just popping off the lid and reaching into the bin through this access hole. I think this will be a good way to deal with the flying roaches.
Any thoughts before I order some roaches and set this up?
