Flick!

New Member
I have had Flick for about 1 month now. I was on a fb page but they weren't the most helpful and tended to be mean to new people when they asked questions. So I'm trying here!. Flick is a vieled chameleon. He's doing great and appears healthy and hydrated. Although he has this weird thing going on with his casque. Looks like someone is pinching one on the back edges together. This is the best pic I could get

Ok if you can get some more pictures. Also as your new here it would be beneficial if you could fill out a husbandry form you can find this in the health section how to ask for help copy paste and fill in your answers. And if you could post some pictures of your entire enclosure. Thanks 😁

Here is a better picture of Flick! And one of his enclosure. I know the lights aren't right but I'm working on getting new ones as well as filling his cage

I can't comment on fb but there are lots of great people on here who have lots of experience and passion for chams and helpful. Ok firstly there are two ways for your floor bio or bare the repti carpet is only breeds bacteria so I personally would lose it . Secondly you will want lots of branches for climbing and live plants .check out the chameleon academy website for veiled husbandry. And when you get a chance fill husbandry form that way the members can help you best . Thanks . If you can't get the form let me know I will tag members

Oo I have just noticed @Nutmeg you need to repost this in general discussion not the lizard lounge that way you will get more input

Oh I just got an email telling me to introduce myself here. I will try to figure out how to post in general

What lights do you currently have as I can't stress enough how important they are for proper bone development

I tried finding the form. I ended up finding all the info for husbandry but no form. Definitely know some things I need now!

My husband was given the typical lights that come in a kit. Since then I have learned I need a long uvb light and that the heating lamp they said he needed isn't really needed since my house stays at 75°. I'm just having trouble finding a uvb cause all everything keeps being sold out

yeah those kits aren't the greatest they get lots of people. You will want a t5ho linear arcadia 6%in my opinion is better or a zoo med repti sun 5% which spans the width of your enclosure.

Okay I hope I answer everything.
Flick is a male vieled. Not sure of the age but I've had him for 1 month now. I was told that he may be about 4-6 months based on his patterns.
I do not pick him up or anything. He really doesn't like it but has definitely been warming up to me. When my husband bought him he was told it was the most aggressive cham they'd ever see. He has never been aggressive towards me and will just chill in one spot even if my hand is close
I am feeding him crickets 2 times a day. I feed him however many he'll eat then take any extras I take out. For water I spray or mist the cage 2 times a day for 1 or 2 minutes and I run a dripper between sprays. I have seen him drink from the water and there is no sign of dehydration in his urate. When I see a fresh feces I will check again and let you know.
I lightly dust the crickets with calcium without d3 every other day and calcium with d3 every 2 weeks. He also gets the reptivite vitamins weekly
His cage is in my bedroom which is the warmest room and he sits in front of a window. His cage is also a screen but I am not sure the exact dimensions but I plant to find a bigger one anyway cause he's growing still
I have the lighting that comes with the kit and am looking for a uvb to replace it. His temps are measured 3 times a day with a I think probe thermometer I move around to different levels and spots in the cage. The very top right under the light gets to 80 and the ground to 70. Lights on at 10 am and off at 10 pm but he seems to go to bed sooner so I may change that. At night the temp is usually 75.
Not sure if I mentioned but the cage sits on my dresser and we live in northeast florida

Do you know if I can buy these on Amazon or only at pet stores? My husband is overseas and I only have a learner's license so can't really drive
