Flexarium warnings

i just like the 250 gal where can your get a cage that size for under a hundred bucks they are great for adult mellers the big cage i mean

which is what ive just bought.

We've owned flexi's for about 5 years now.
They are cheap, but have done the trick for us so far...

ive never had any problems with my flexarium....but the visability is poor, but my cham is happy as larry! cant complain.:)

I liked it when I got it. Had it for 6 months and the zip went the reason im so mad is because my enclosure is heald shut with pegs atm lol. I can't afford one of terrys enclosures for around another month as im getting the 24x24x48 for £155. I think i'm going to get the zipper replaced or something for now. Thanks for sharing guys! and the ones who like the flexarium let the force be with you!

I can say from personal experience these things suck. No denying it...
That's not to say you can't keep a chameleon alive in one, but they are living in the dark and it is not ideal.

This is one of those situations where the question isn't "what will work?" , but rather, "which is BEST for your cham?"

Thanks,

Joe

I manage to light them up just fine-takes a little extra work and electricity, but mine all have great visibility. Now-I do keep my shyer chams in those-and youngsters.

Where have you found a terry thatcher that size? i can only find one 38 high

Don't you guys find free roaming insects can hide in the framework of these cages? They are a pain to clean instead of a nice screen cage that opens from the bottom without disturbing the chameleon. I guess some people use them with shy species like quadricornis but unzipping half their environment certainly defeats the purpose of keeping them stress free. My dislike of these things is certainly my opinion only. Some people like them. I just think there are better options out there. I can drive with my feet but that doesn't make it a good idea.

Oh yeah I know all about this. A lady at the pet shop called blankety blank recomended me one And I told here to tell her manager to stop selling them because the whole cage suckedXD

I originally bought one of these from PetSmart and took it all home and set it up, put in all my plants lights trees vines etc. and took a step back to admire the enclosure to find I could hardly see inside the thing... I was thinking to myself why would i get into such awesome little creatures like chameleons and not be able to see them......took it back and got my first all screen cage and used that design to start off my wooden cage building.....

Reptariums are excellent for shy montane species or young animals, or even females. I find my male veileds do poorly in them - they show stress colors. Females, no problems at all. Deremensis, no problem, baby to sub adult veileds, no problems.

Their light weight, simplicity, and affordibility makes them perfect for temporary cages (baby cages especially).

You just can see in very well - whihc is GOOD for some animals, but not for all. That's why the male veileds stress - they LIKE to see out.

I think I noticed as my veiled gets older he seems more dull and stressed in them to. Not to the point where he is really dark but he seems much happier and more colourful as soon as he is outside and basking near the same light which he has access to from the flexarium.
