If so.....mine is blind by now

It'll blind them for a second like it does with us but it won't hurt them. Eyes are well equipped to handle it

I don't know if this is a good option for you, but I know its quite common for people in the reptile world to use light boxes to take pictures of their collections, I believe this will eliminate the need for a camera with a flash...but I'm nowhere close to an expert in the field of photography, so I may be completely wrong!
