Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - Panther, male ambilobe. He is about 5 1/2 months old and has been in my care since the last of September.

Handling - I handle him at least once a week and sometimes twice.

Feeding and Supplementation - He eats between 15 and 20 3/4" crickets a day. They are gutloaded with Repashy Bug Burger and dusted with Repashy Calcium Plus on a daily basis.

Watering - Aquazamp Rain Dome three times daily @ 13 minute intervals. I also hand mist him at least twice a day and have seen him drink on a regular basis.

Fecal Description - Dark brown with plenty of white urates.

He has never been tested for parasites.

History - About 5 weeks ago, he really flipped out when I was trying to get him out for a handling session. He threw himself off the branches and landed on the pvc floor. He had just shed and I guess he was just feeling kinda pissy, so I didn't bother him anymore for two days. I kept an eye on him and he didn't seem to be hurt or be favoring anything.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - Screen cage, 24 x 24 x 12, the small kit from the Kammers.

Lighting - Reptisun hood with a Reptisun 5.0 and a 60 watt basking bulb. Lights on at 8am and off at 7pm.

Temperature - 95 degrees fahrenheit on his closest basking spot (favored one) down to 90 degrees fahrenheit on the next spot and 70 degrees fahrenheit towards the bottom of the cage. Lowest temperature at night is 70 degrees fahrenheit. Temps are measured by the thermomemeter that came with the cage kit. (I can't remember the brand name)

Humidity - 45% up to 80 to 85% after the RainDome goes off. I maintain these levels by three mistings per day via the AquaZamp and two hand mistings daily.

Plants - I have one live plant in his baby cage, a pothos and plenty of plastic vines and leaves.

Placement - Cage is located on a rack I built that is 48" from the floor to the bottom of the cage and goes up to 72" at the top of the cage. Not located in a high traffic area nor near any fans or air vents.

Location - Parkersburg, West Virginia

Current Problem - He shed two days ago and every since then he has been favoring his right front foot. I had him out for a handling session today and he didn't seem to be able to grip with it as tight as his other feet. It doesn't appear bruised or swollen, he just seems to be favoring it even while traveling around the cage he is hesitant to use it like his left front foot. It doesn't seem to have any bulges or look like it has been broken, but he sure acts like something is wrong with it.

Any ideas........... ????? :confused::confused::confused:

Let's hope that he just hurt it and it will be better in a few days. My Luie was favoring one of his legs and he had Xrays and bloodwork to rule out gout. He had bone spurs on his leg and was treated with Medicam.

Jann,

Thats what I'm hoping for. I can't for the life of me figure out what he could have done that is causing this. I really thought initially that it was because he had a piece of shedding sking that was caught on his foot and that was why he was doing it.....but the skin is gone and he still seems like it is tender or something.

I'm gonna keep a close eye on him and hopefully it goes away. It isn't affecting his appetite any and he cruises from one side of the cage to the other hunting the crickets down. It's when he is traveling around at his normal "sloth-like" pace that it is most noticable.
