First Vet Visit

I took Phineas to the vet today for a wellness check and fecal exam. The vet raised chams when he was young, so he really likes them! He said Phineas looked great. I was glad to hear that! The fecal results should be back within a week. And finally, I at least got a baseline for his weight. He is nine months and 147 grams.

Oh, goodness, yes, I am so hoping for a clean fecal! I was putting off a visit to the vet because I didn't want to stress Phineas. Judging from his reaction to the whole thing - carrier, car ride, vet handling, etc. it seems I was the only one stressed!

Hey Jann - I was thinking about dropping off a fecal every six months for testing. Would this be good, or overdoing it? A year seems like such a long time to wait.

I use to do every 6 months but now I get fecals every 3 months. I don't think 6 months would be overdoing it at all.

I've always took mine for a checkup shortly after I get them and then every 6 months unless we have a problem in between.

Your lucky to have a good reptile vet. There arent any near me... there is a reptile vet but thier "GOOD" Dr Retired & moved away..... I dont think the lady I talked to seemed real up on chams I only had to go once with Burt in 5 years... he had a califlower type grwth on 1 of his feet they just removed it and life went healthily along

HOORAY! The vet just called and said the fecal results are all negative! And I know pricing was talked about on other threads, so FYI for anyone, the visit and fecal costs $67.
