Bowser
male ambiobe blue bar panther, unknown age, 61grams in my care as of early January 2018
handled a few times a week, when cleaning mostly
gut loaded 10 medium crickets & 10 super worms a day and a few horned worms weekly
calcium w/o d3 every feeding, calcium w/ d3 and multivitamin 2 times a month each
reptirain spraying for 15 seconds 4 times a day
seems to be normal fecal black/white usually daily

16'x16'x30' inch cage
50W basking bulb and 5.0 uvb bulb
ambient temp around 80 during the day and above 70 at night
a pothos plant re potted and cleaned
located in Denver Colorado

I was gifted Bowser in January as a Christmas gift from my beautiful girlfriend who recalled me mentioning I have always wanted a chameleon. Due to the fact he was a gift I was ill prepared. After hours of reading and preparation this is Bowsers set up and conditions. I was hoping to receive some advise or pointers and also get a guess at his age. The the pet store owners answer to "how old is this one" was 6 months no matter what . I think he was either ignorant or stressed out .
due to the fact he was around 25 grams and had hardly any color developed i think he was closer to 3 months old when I got him

He seems to hate my phone and gets angry whenever i try to take photos strange enough this is one of the only times he gets aggressive.
Thank you in advance, Bowser

What a cutie! Temperatures seem good! How's the humidity? I would mist for longer times (3-5 min) to make sure he has a chance to drink. I'd go for a couple more horizontal branches and plants too.

And welcome to the forum! Looking forward to seeing more of him!

Well, next gift your beautiful girlfriend will have to give is a bigger cage since he will outgrow it soon enough.

And he probably doesn't just hate the phone, you should leave him in his cage a while and let him settle, forcibly handling you (new) chameleon is a huge stress-factor for him.

Best study this caresheet and live by it, it should contain all info you need to raise a healthy cham: https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/panther/

Thank you. I doubled the time on his sprays as I don't have a humidity reader.

I know that he will soon need a new cage. I pan on building a much bigger one when the time comes. he does not seem to be stressed until I put my phone on him. Thank you for the link I will check it out.

Your off to a good start for getting a surprise gift. You should put linear UVB lights on your gift list to go with the larger cage when you upgrade. Try to give him as much plant cover as you can. The more available hiding places they have the more secure they become and hide less.

yeah I will definitely be using a linear bulb when I upgrade his cage, thank you for the advice. I will also make sure he has plenty of perches and covers
