First day of six new outdoor enclosures for the chamily. LWH 49x25x72.
I feel like the temperature thresholds I’m comfortable with could lead to controversy. I don’t want anyone to take my data and use it as some sort of metric for their chams—especially a relatively new keeper. So you already know the temperatures will be warm enough?
I've seen it snow on May 29th once upon a time!
They’ll be as bioactive as I can. The bottom foot will be soil for both temp regulation and bioactivity. However, I’ll be seeding the substrate will native fauna, rather than buying springs and isos.I can’t wait!!! You get some amazing shots in there, are they bioactive?
So, the bottom planter boxes will get paint-on rubber on the inside. It’s meant for fish ponds, so it’s safe. I haven’t decided on what to use for the visible parts. The stuff we used for the three we built last year worked well, but it needs yearly reapplication. There are a number of stains, and non toxic sealants, but I haven’t decided yet. Suggestions? What are you using to waterproof the wood?
