First moth has hatched!

I found silkworms took more time than I had available too, since I started going to school in addition to working full time. I had to attend to them every day, feeding them twice daily (i typically gave them chow in the morning and fresh dandelion or grape vine leaves in the afternoon). Sometimes this was just 5 or 10 minutes a day. other times (moving to clean containers/getting rid of fraze) it could be half an hour to an hour. It was totally worth the time, when I had it.
But I also had a rather manual method. Im quite sure there are efficiencies that I didnt implement.

We love our silk worms and so do our Chams and Gecko.
We started last year and was so successful thats we still have tonz of fertitle eggs that we hatch, we now have coons, huge worms, medium ones, tiny, very tiny and newly hatched lol...oh and eggs...alll the time.

I feel safer giving our Chams fresh, home grown and CLEAN worms rather than give our cash to the pet stores, for their smelly, poorly fed crickets. I always worry about parasites from them and one always escapes and chirps all night lol.

We also have a colony of Roaches, have easily breed crickets and the Chams love the silk worm moths too...they are pretty, but if we get way more males to females we feed them off :)

Silkworms are awesome!!! Well done in breeding them too.

Yeah I've got way more males than females too!!

Have fed a couple off but I couldn't watch him eat em coz they're soooo cute!! LOL

Trying to sort a little heat mat so I can make the incubator tub for the eggs. They're still in the fridge, so making do with gutloaded crix for now.

They stink and do chirp!! Not as loud as the blacks but they're a pain in the butt!!!!

Can't wait till I've got a regular supply if silks, then will do away with the crix n bring back the locusts! They're much easier to manage!

He'll also get butterworms, roaches, wax worms, morios and any other delicious critters I can find :D

Will sort some more pics tomorrow. Got some of him outside catching some rays on Monday too so will get them posted as well! ;)

Here's a load of pics of moffies, eggs etc...

Ended up with 3 more fat females for the boys to mate with, then they've all laid and gone to heaven in Simba's belly!!! LOL

Must get incubator sorted for the first lot n get some worms on the go.

Been so busy over the past couple of weeks, I've not had chance.

Best get the chow ordered too as I think I'm gonna need plenty of it!

Awww! I found them fascinating to watch them laying, how they line each egg up against another! They have got to be the prettiest moths in the world!:D
